Clamps and staying
Stéphane Allain, Serimax, France,
explains how a new and complete range
of solutions for the landline market is being delivered.
A
s a leading specialist in the oil and gas pipeline welding
industry, Serimax is continuously developing new
technology and processes that are specifically tailored
to tackle the challenges faced by its customers and to
meet industry trends head on.
Whether conquering the hostile environments of oil and
gas exploration and production in ultra deepwater or Arctic
surroundings, or harnessing complex innovative materials to
develop state-of-the-art equipment, Serimax prides itself on being
one step ahead of the competition.
And it’s a never-ending process. During 2016 Serimax – a
subsidiary of Vallourec – will launch a number of advanced new
technologies that will extend the company’s range of welding
solutions and underline its capability for innovation.
The first of these to be revealed is Internax; a re-rounder
welding clamp for the onshore pipeline market that has been
specially developed by adapting Serimax’s existing – and proven –
technology.
The starting point for Internax was Maxiluc, Serimax’s high
power internal line-up clamp for
>
30 in. pipeline diameters,
capable of correcting out-of-roundness and particularly suited to
mountainous terrain profiles.
By adapting it with welding capabilities to perform root
passes from inside the pipe, Internax becomes the ideal tool when
customer specifications forbid welding on copper backing. It also
delivers a new higher-productivity welding solution, particularly
sought-after in certain regions with flat, plain terrain profiles.
Among its many features are enhancements to weld
productivity for cross-country landlines due to its eight fully
automatic welding heads and enhanced operator safety through
wireless remote control, while its pipe re-rounding capabilities
reduce hi-lo and fit-up time as well as improving weld quality.
Unique welding core
Internax has many positive features, but the main one resides
in its welding core, which is unique in its field. Internax adds
